About Sigmas
It's more than a sisterhood― it's home.
To us, Sigma Phi Omega is a home away from home. It's place a where we can be authentic and be met with acceptance, where we make friendships and memories to last a lifetime, and where we grow as individuals and together into strong and empowered women.
Philanthropy
Sigmas are strongly committed to serving the community, and we host and participate in several philanthropy events each semester. Our official National Philanthropy focus is domestic violence. Every semester, we dedicate a week to help promote our cause, called SAFE, which stands for Stop Abuse in Family environments. In addition, we take part in many other events on campus or around the Los Angles community, such as Los Angeles Toy Drives, Heal the Bay Beach Clean Up, and USC Friends & Neighbors Day.
Scholarship
Sigma Phi Omega places a strong emphasis on academics and campus involvement. Our Academic Chairs host chapter study sessions twice a week for sisters to come together and study, ask each other questions, and be resources for one another. During these study hours, we often host various workshops to enrich our students’ academic and professional careers. These include resume workshops, mock interviews, and even guest speakers to teach us about personal finance and investment. Additionally, the Sigma Phi Omega Charitable Foundation grants scholarships each year to deserving members across all ten chapters.
Social
You can almost always find Sigmas having fun together - from hiking in the hills of Hollywood to trying out that new hole-in-the-wall restaurant in downtown LA. We host several exciting sisterhood events, such as date dash and rollerskating. Each semester, we also have formal events where we get dressed up and rent out a banquet hall. As part of the Asian Greek Community, we have mixers and joint events with organizations both at USC and all around southern California. Our sisterhood provides a unique opportunity to build an extensive and diverse social network.
